Circles, the memoirs of Miloš Jurkovič, is a valuable contribution to preserving Slovakia’s musical and cultural memory, particularly of the second half of the twentieth century. The remarkable breadth of the author's activities, experiences and artistic collaborations offers readers a unique insight into various aspects of Slovak music and culture from multiple perspectives.

As a flautist, Miloš Jurkovič reflects on his beginnings in jazz during the 1950s, his studies at the Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, his work with the Military Artistic Ensemble (VUS) and the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra (SOSR), as well as his distinguished career as a concert soloist. As a director and arts manager, he recalls the social and political circumstances of the periods when he served as Rector of the Academy of Performing Arts, Director of the OPUS publishing house, and Manager of the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra.

The book concludes with portraits of fifteen personalities who profoundly influenced the author's life. Richly illustrated with historically valuable photographs from Jurkovič’s personal archive, it provides an engaging testimony to Slovakia’s musical and cultural history.
