String Quartet No. 2 A Minor

String Quartet No. 2 in A minor by Mikuláš Moyzes (Allegro – Adagio – Menuetto – Finale) was composed in 1929. Here, too, Moyzes drew on Slovak folk songs—in the first movement ("Keď sa ti chce spať", "Budzil som ca, budzil") and in the fourth movement ("Doliny, doliny" and "Sokolovie lúka"). These songs can also be found in the Matica slovenská collection Slovenské spevy: "Doliny, doliny" = Slovenské spevy III, No. 598; "Sokolovie lúka" = Slovenské spevy I, No. 60; "Budzil som ca, budzil" = Slovenské spevy I, No. 124.
