String Quartet No. 3 in F-sharp minor by Mikuláš Moyzes was composed between 1931 and 1932. The four-movement cycle—Allegro ma non troppo, Adagio placido, Allegretto leggiero, and Allegretto con tenerezza—incorporates a quotation of the Slovak folk song Vyletel vták, taken from Slovenské spevy (Vol. I, collected by M. and K. Royová, Nitra region, 1880, No. 572). The same melody had previously been arranged by Béla Bartók in Four Slovak Folk Songs for voice and piano (c. 1907). The instrumental parts of the quartet were revised by George Actarjeff, who performed the work on Slovak Radio on 25 April 1939.

The edition includes the full score and individual instrumental parts.

Published to mark the 150th anniversary of Mikuláš Moyzes’s birth, together with the following titles: String Quartet No. 1 in D major, String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, and String Quartet No. 4 in G major.
