A Journey with Music

The distinguished Slovak composer of Polish origin Roman Berger (1930) devoted himself not only to composition but also to theoretical writing and essays. The present selection of texts from the years 1969–2009, Journey with Music. From Palach to Obama – and to Štefánik, follows on from his earlier books Music and Truth. "...You Must Not Think Like That!...", a selection of texts from 1977–1987 (1997), and The Drama of Music. Prolegomena to Political Musicology, a selection of texts from 1990–1999 (2000), as well as the collection of texts from 1984–2005 published in Poland under the title Zasada twórczości (The Principle of Creativity, 2005).
