Diana Buffa - piano

Slovak pianist. She studied piano under Peter Kaščák at Košice Conservatory. In 2002 – 2007 she continued with her studies at Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava under Ivan Gajan, Marian Lapšanský and Marcel Štefka. She also completed several Master’s courses in Vienna (Oleg Maisenberg, Alexander Satz) and Reichenbach (Elena Nesterenko). In 2012 she completed her postgraduate studies at the Department of Musicology at Comenius University in Bratislava, defending her dissertation thesis Kompozičná tvorba pre komorný súbor od štyroch slovenských skladateliek žijúcich v zahraničí: Viery Janárečkovej, Iris Szeghy, Petry Bachratej, Jany Kmiťovej (Compositions for chamber orchestra from four Slovak female composers living abroad: Viera Janárečková, Iris Szeghy, Petra Bachratá, Jana Kmiťová). Apart from her soloist career, she is also a chamber musician. Contemporary music plays the important role in her repertoire. She premiered works of several Slovak authors in her piano duet with Ivan Buffa. She regularly performs at Slovak and foreign festivals and events. As a co-founder of Quasars Ensemble, Diana Buffa performed at many leading European stages. She contributed with her soloist and chamber music to more than 10 CDs for Hevhetia, Music Fund Slovakia and Music Centre Slovakia.
