The chronologic sequence of texts lends this book the character of a survey of the philosophical development Roman Berger has undergone since the early 1990s. The underlying notion here is the legitimacy of basic concepts and phenomena (creative act, culture, democracy); if problems of culture occupied Berger’s thought earlier, now the focus has shifted towards sociology. The author gives a critical view on the emptiness of concepts used by the current cultural and political establishment, and seeks to find an escape from the labyrinths of relativism, liberalism and pragmatism.
