Alexander Jablokov

Alexander Jablokov comes from a musical family; his father and brother were violinists, his mother played flute. Since 1981 has lived in Slovakia. He is a soloist, chamber and orchestral player. As a concert soloist he performed with the following orchestras: Camerata Europeana, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava; Slovak Philharmonic; Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra; North Czech Philharmonic Teplice; Slovak State Philharmonic Košice. In 1985 he founded an orchestra entitled Chamber Virtuosi. From 1981 – 1988 was a member of the Slovak Philharmonic. In 1988 – 1994 he played first violin in the Trávniček Quartet with which he rehearsed more than 40 string quartets and played in many European countries and overseas. From 1996 – 2004 he was concert master and soloist of the chamber orchestra Camerata Europeana. From 1999 – 2003 he was a member of Trio Passionato (with Klaus-Peter Hahn, vc, Germany, Yuri Rozum, pf, Russia). He is the founder of the Slovak Festival Orchestra (former Bratislava Classic, 2002) and leads it together with his son Vladimír Jablokov.

Jablokov introduced himself at festivals at home and abroad. With various ensembles he recorded for the record companies Opus, Naxos, EMI, Koch International, Discovery International, Diskant, CRB, Hänssler Classic, and also for Slovak Radio and Slovak Television.

He is active also in the field of pedagogy. Since 1994 he teaches violin at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. His students are active soloists, chamber or symphonic music players (Jozef Bikár – concert master of the Opera of the State Theatre Košice, Jana Černá-Illéšová, František Černý, Maroš Didi, Lucia Dundeková, Andrej Jablokov, Peter Michalík – second concert master of the Opera of the State Theatre Košice, Maroš Potokár – concert master of the State Philharmonic Košice, Štefan Reiter, Eva Surovičová, Mária Tomišková and others).

He is systematically devoted to home music-making within the family. Since 1998 he has organized “family concerts” which he considers an important part of the development of the musical talent of his children.
