Šarayová is the first female Slovak professional conductor. From 1967 she collaborated with the Bratislava Children’s Choir as conductor. In 1980 she also took on the position of artistic director, succeeding Juraj Haluzický. From 1983 she led the choir in collaboration with her son Ondrej Šaray. In1969 she was co-founder of the Women’s Chamber Orchestra, where she performed the functions of artistic director and conductor. In 1971 – 1986 she led the Slovak women teachers’ choir Ozvena. With these formations she made over 2,000 concert appearances at home and abroad (in almost the whole of Europe, Canada, Japan and USA).
Alongside her concert activity she has engaged in teaching. She teaches conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts, Bratislava. She is invited to lecture at conducting courses and also as a member of competition juries.
