Mucha Quartet was formed in 2003 while its members were studying at the Conservatory in Bratislava, where they studied under Stanislav Mucha, then first violinist of the Moyzes Quartet. The quartet's members are outstanding performers and laureates of national and international competitions.

They further developed their chamber music skills through studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (Ján Slávik), the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (Johannes Meissl), and the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid (Günter Pichler). They also attended masterclasses in Reichenau (Peter Schuhmayer, Johannes Meissl, Othmar Müller, Hatto Beyerle, Miguel da Silva, Evgenia Epshtein, Jan Talich, Petr Prause, Josef Klusoň, András Keller), Schwarzenberg (Günter Pichler), Villecroze (Miguel da Silva, Alfred Brendel), and Montreal (Gerhard Schulz, Michael Tree, Norman Fischer, Atar Arad).

The quartet has performed at leading music festivals (including Bratislava Music Festival, Prague Spring, Bordeaux String Quartet Festival, and Allegretto Žilina) and in major concert halls, including a recital at the Musikverein in Vienna, a concert at the Philharmonie Luxembourg, and performances as part of the chamber music series of the Slovak Philharmonic. It regularly participates in other cultural events at home and abroad and collaborates with a number of artists.

For its activities to date, the quartet has received several awards and has achieved top rankings in international performance competitions.

Since 2015, the quartet has presented a concert series at the Nedbalka Gallery in Bratislava as part of the musica_litera project, combining classical music with spoken word. In 2016 and 2017, the quartet was an ensemble-in-residence of Rádio Devín, presenting a series of its own concerts at Slovak Radio.

Their recordings include a profile CD (Diskant, 2013), Slovenské spevy by Béla Bartók, recorded in collaboration with Iva Bittová (Pavian Records, 2015), Bella-Dvořák (Diskant, 2017), Štyria hudci (Pavian Records, 2018), and CDs featuring works by Ivan Hrušovský (Music Centre Slovakia, 2021), Jevgenij Iršai (Pavlík Records, 2022), and Mikuláš Moyzes (Music Centre Slovakia, 2023).
