Among the famous Baroque composer trio — Purcell, Bach, Händel— it was Händel who was considered the most versatile. He established himself as an opera mogul, a master of oratorio, and an inventive composer of delicate chamber music. Igor Stravinsky "inherited" something of Händel’s universality—his chamber works often and uniquely connected the 20th century with Händel’s era. Johann Sebastian Bach’s thrilling Chaconne in D minor is one of the greatest treasures of solo violin literature. Fritz Kreisler remains an eternal symbol of violin virtuosity. The March from Sergei Prokofiev’s satirical opera The Love for Three Oranges is one of classical music’s greatest "hits" and has been arranged countless times. Camille Saint-Saëns excelled as a piano and organ virtuoso, composer, teacher, and manager. His Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso is one of his most famous and brilliant works. The concert will feature the winner of the Allegretto Žilina Festival Prize 2024, violin virtuoso Aubree Oliverson.
