Richard Wagner conquered the world with his gigantic stage Gesamtkunstwerke, in which he boldly dismantled the musical system of his time. However, the lyrical Siegfried Idyll still demonstrates a certain respect for tradition. Joseph Haydn made immense creative contributions to the symphony, string quartet, and piano trio. Although concertos were not his primary focus, the Cello Concerto in D major remains a favorite among musicians to this day. Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was a child prodigy; by the age of 11, he had already introduced his first significant works to the public. His Symphony No. 1 in C minor soon followed.
